Looking for advice and suggestions for how to approach things with my current employment.

I’ve been working at my current place of employment for about 7 months now and have been subjected to questionable practices from the start. For example, the job offer I signed was for full time 8 am – 4 pm, mon – fri. As soon as I was signed on I was told that I would have to work a 10 am – 7 pm shift (which I thought was annoying but didn’t bother me as much because of my availability) and here’s where they introduced the concept of mandatory overtime. At first it was just the busier days of the week (Mon and Fri) but after about two weeks, the mandatory over time has become a daily thing. Ontop of the “mandatory overtime” for an undisclosed amount of time, my schedule changes daily ranging from starting at 7:00 am, 7:15 am and 7:45 am, I work from opening until an hour from closing which is definitely over 8 hours, my schedule is designed to where I don’t have a scheduled final break for nearly three hours a day, my boss is more or less harassing employees about productivity with daily meetings about stats without saying anything about how we are being explicitly overworked, my job itself is actually two jobs rolled into one and the biggest kicker is that I’m doing contracted work for the VA state transportation department.

What are my rights? Suggestions for how to proceed? I live in Virginia.
