I just got offered an administrative position in childcare. I’ve worked in this field for nearly 5 years, and as of right now its in a horrendous state. The low wages given to teachers is not nearly enough for the effort we put forth, which has caused a drastic teacher shortage. I’m sure you all have noticed.
That being said, I began searching for a new job because my current one comes with an insane amount of unavoidable overtime, and I value my personal time over anything else. This position I’ve been offered would be a huge step in my career, but I foresee it coming with even worse hours. I’m watching the administrators at my current job struggle to leave work every single day. One of them had even done 12 hours days multiple times a week to keep the place running.
But I would still love to take this job. They’ve made it clear how much they adore my experience, and they’ve practically given me the job already. Regardless, we are still going through the interviewing process. I want to take this time to make it clear from the start that I’m not working countless extra hours. I know it’s an administrative position, but I don’t want to stick myself in a place where I have to work those 12 hour days.
What would be the most efficient way of getting this across?
