Throwaway because internet be wildin: Today I was pulled into a meeting to discuss my annual review. In said meeting, I was informed that for the last year I’ve been not living up to the firms expectations and was accused of not performing my job duties, essentially for the length of time I’ve been working. This is contrary to every quarterly feedback form I’ve received and every quarterly review I’ve had, so to say this came out of left field is a bit of an understatement. They tried to place me on a PiP, which for any of you that are familiar with software jobs, this is basically a railroad to fire me. This essentially leaves me with no other option but to resign. I’d recently requested FMLA leave due to some unforeseen issues that have cropped up in the last few months and they dragged their feet in approving that and then “forgot” and said they never had gotten a request from me. Luckily I have some money stashed away to pay my bills, but otherwise I’m gonna be screwed if I don’t find another job soon. Life continues to disappoint but what else can we do?
