lowball offer to stay

I worked at an eyewear company for about 5 years. I started at the bottom and worked my way up a bit. After a couple of years I knew how to run the whole department. I would train new employees and lead team members during audits and whatnot. I was crossed trained and jumped in to help wherever help was needed. after 5 years, I decided to look for new employment. after 5 years, I decided to look for new employment. Finally I went to turn in my two week notice when I got a new job. I knew my boss was going to have an offer for me to try to get me to stay but I wasn't expecting what he told me.

He asked me how much I was being offered at my new job, and I told him it was over a 3 dollar increase per hour. He told me they were not willing to match that.

But what he was willing to offer me to stay was a parking spot.

I tried not laughing at him when I told him that I already had a parking spot after 6 months of employment there.

(Just for reference, street parking is horrible and only upper management and a handful of employees get parking spaces.)

He just told me to think about it till the end of the day and let him know if there was anything else besides higher pay that will make me stay.
