Made myself irreplaceable. Now I can’t get time off.

I am withholding name, age, etc. for protection against other coworkers and my employer. For the past 2 years (this summer being my 3rd) I have worked as a lifeguard at an outdoor, seasonal, small multi-guard facility, where each shift was 1 manager with 3 other guards on rotation. I worked hard with the previous company (year 1, year 2) to move up, making $3 in raises and bonuses on average once the season ended. I live nearby so I would come by whenever there was a problem, and I found manuals for our pump systems online that I read so I could better fix them on my own. This summer, new company comes in, recognizes that I know everything about this facility, and offer me more money for a full time 40hr a week job. I take it, expecting to be scheduled for 30 a week. This summer, new company comes in, recognizes that I know everything about this facility, and offer me more money for a full time 40hr a week job. I take it, expecting to be scheduled for 30 a week. Nope. 4 ~9 hour shifts keep me under overtime pay, and time off has to be requested but doesn’t have to be granted.

This week, I have 2 events for a team that I both coach and am on (vague again for protection) that are on day X and day Y. I told the company that I could never work on Day X or Day Y because these events are every week, and yet I am still scheduled during the time of those events. I know that the company has enough people to fill my spot, just that they don’t have the same knowledge that I have about the facility, and I have told HR and my staffing coordinator that I can’t work those days since the schedule came out.

Am I safe if I just don’t show up since I told them I couldn’t work? I know it sounds bad but this is my lay chance to do the team events with my team before I leave the team.

Edit: I really like my job and the people I work with so quitting is kind of out of the question for now.
