I just had an interview with an international road crew. To preface I am a extremely experienced heavy equipment operator, currently employed and simply testing the waters on a potential change. Now to the interview, I get there 30 minutes early, wait in the lobby while I can hear the hiring managers shooting the shit on the other side of the wall. 5 minutes until interview was scheduled one calls me in, shakes my hand introduces himself, seems professional. We go back to his “office” which is essentially two desks crammed together on a closet, awaiting us is another non introduced “manager”. This second fella doesn't even stand up, (probably because all three of us would be making contact if we all weren't sitting at the same time) he opens with, well why do you want to work here? I explain my current company offers very minimal benefits package and always looking for gainful opportunities, he scoffs. Next question is why I would want to leave a good job for another good job, I elaborate my first answer as it's the same as the first question. The general vibe of the room was not good at this point. Idk if I used too big of words for them or what, anyway we continue, I explain my experience and current position, they ask why I'd make a good employee, I reference the 10+ years of positive employment with zero terminations or write ups. They kick my application back and forth and end up offering me a starting position @ $22/hr. A pretty standard starting point for the industry, then he tells me the benefits aren't good there either…. The absolute kicker to all of this is, i didn't even apply with them, my resume came up on a LinkedIn search that their HR did… I will not be taking a position at your absolute toxic company, and I can't fathom why you are having such trouble hiring/retaining good people 🤣
TLDR: Got called about my resume matching a job that was being posted, interviewed with 2 unprofessional yahoo's who thought I had applied for a job that in fact they sought me out for. Was disrespected the entire interview. Good luck on the search boys!
