Mandated 4 day work weeks CANNOT come at the expense of workers hours.

Currently there is a bill being proposed in California to switch to a 4 day, 32 hour work week. I am in full support of a 4 day work week, however I am adamantly against a 32 hour work week. This is going to be a major blow to the working class’ bottom line. People are struggling as it is and now we’re taking away an entire days pay every week. I believe that a 4 day work week will be an amazing improvement to peoples everyday lives, but it needs to come in the form of 4 days of 10 hour shifts so we don’t take away peoples hours. This might sound gnarly but 4 tens is actually an amazing schedule and you get used to it quite fast.

4 tens also makes it easier to work an additional part time job If you need to.

At the end of the day, progress is important, but it can’t come at the expense of the people.

Cutting workers hours is not progress.
