hi y’all, first time post (and i’m on mobile so i apologize if my format is strange) but i have a question and hopefully this is the right place to ask!
i live in missouri and im a server, and we have a mandatory staff meeting on the 19th (today) at 9pm (after hours). are they required to pay us for our time? the owner is literally the cheapest man i’ve ever met and i guarantee they won’t pay us to be there. i’ve done a little bit of searching and it seems like they are legally required to pay us but i don’t want to bring it up incase i’m wrong. i know servers/tipped employees get payed differently which is why i’m not 100% sure if my fellow coworkers and i are included in this law. im going to ask if we get payed (knowing the owner im sure we will not) but if i’m told we will not receive pay, what can i do? i will happily report our horrible owner if i have to 🙂 i just don’t fully understand how the laws around these types of things work, and i don’t want to start anything if it’s unnecessary.
