There's a story that the creator of the website HowStuffWorks.com wrote called “Manna.”
It's actually an older story but it talks about an AI that takes over management positions and dictates every move an employee makes.
I'm reminded of this story because it pretty much describes my job. Food Delivery through Uber Eats and DoorDash. The AI feeds me deliveries and when I choose one the app guides me to the pickup location. It then tells me exactly what to pick up and exactly where I need to drop off the order.
The story also talks about homeless people being stored away in huge buildings so the rich don't have to look at them anymore. I'm reminded of this because of the talks from big corporations about using their now-empty buildings (because of remote work) to house people.
I don't know if works of fiction predicting the future of our society are allowed here but this one is pretty good and 8 chapters long.
PS: I'm also working on some fiction about workers being fed up and quitting their jobs. It's all from a first-person perspective but I'm not sure if there's anyone that wants to read something like that.
