I work middle management. I know I'm hated here. I worked my way up from sanitation in a factory to operations manager. It took me 10 years but I finally did it. I started at a new company about a year ago. The efficiency was around 70% with constant call outs and everyone on the production floor working 60 to 72 hours a week. I've been trying to tell the plant manager since I arrived we need to invest in the people working on the floor. Starting out everyone makes 15 an hour but I've constantly said we need to start at 20. 20 is the going rate where I currently live. I've also been saying this overtime is killing everyone. Telling the plant manager of countless studies being done proving the less you work someone the higher output they achieve. Well we lost a contract a month ago which accounted for 2 days out of 7 needing to be shut down. Everyone works 36 to 48 hours a week. This whole month our efficiency numbers have reached between 90% and 105%. Our waste went from 20% down to 5% per order. It has convinced him to increase wages and begin hiring for a 3rd shift now that we've won a new contract to keep operating 7 days a week. Everyone on the floor is so much happier.
