Mind broken: income vs mortgage

I can't say I agree with everything on this sub, but I just learned something that is pretty crazy. I wish I could credit the YouTuber that said it but i can't find the link. It goes like this. the median home price in America $375K and the median income is $31K. at 20% down that means that you need $75K saved just to apply for a mortgage and then your monthly payment will be $2085, or 80% of your gross paycheck. TL:DR the average american can't afford the average home.
