Reading through some of the posts on this sub I remembered an experience I had a few years ago (I am now employed elsewhere this is just an FYI for others)
I used to work for a DDonut shop around where I live.
At the end of every week my manager used to bring out a binder to all employees with everyone's “missing punches” and ask us to sign the times he put in. I noticed there were always several instances to sign so I started taking pictures of all of my punch ins and outs. I would start pulling up the images and showing “no I actually punched out but it the time you put down isn't right” and he'd correct it. After only a few times of me correcting him and proving I am taking pictures of my punches, suddenly I didn't have to sign the book anymore! shocking!
This is a way for managers to get you to consent to a change in punch, this took away 15 minutes to sometimes a half an hours worth of pay. I was young and nervous about confrontation so I let it pass, but I shouldn't have. If you have to sign something like this, please start taking pictures of your punches, get paid for what you work.
Stay safe, stay diligent
