Edit to clarify- In this hypothetical situation, the minimum wage for minimum qualifications should 100% be a living wage, not the current standards.
The higher wages would just be for increased comfort due to the extra work they (should have) put in for said qualifications. I could be digging myself deeper here but Im loving the feedback, really helping to open my eyes as a young worker.
Do you guys think that there should be different minimum wages based on certain qualifications or circumstances?
Like say one minimum wage if you graduate with A-levels/High School, a higher one for a degree and a higher for like a masters etc? I believe it would stop companies under paying graduates while opening up the workplace for people who are unable to get all the qualifications.
Similarly I believe that there should be some labour laws that include raises (or again another increase in a minimum wage) for time worked. It could be time worked your whole life, time worked in a certain sector or time worked in a business.
I also believe that if you have laws deciding minimum wages per job that the gov would obviously choose lower minimum wages for service workers and hospitality but once those people migrate to other jobs for the now better pay, it would be very obvious that these workers are essential to the smooth runnings of our soceity and the lawmakers will be put in the spotlight and will eventually have to admit that these people are a lot more valuable to society.
Anyway its all wishful thinking but a guy can dream. Any additions or objections?
