I am working on getting an intern to help support me and to mentor at my current job. The issue is the company refused my request to pay more than $20/hr for skilled labor (the cost to rent a studio in this city is over $1k a month) and they won't offer any sort of package to help them move here. I doubt I will find someone to fill the position with such crappy pay and benefits. I am just so frustrated since this company loves to tout record earnings and growth, but won't even budge on a few dollars more toward pay.
There isn't a labor shortage. There is a shortage of jobs that pay livable wages and provide basic benefits.
