My worthless union steward and union rep up until our contract negotiation told us at our satellite office and our main Seattle office that they were going for a $4.00-$5.00 an hour raise for the next 3 years. Well, voting day comes and what happens…me and my coworkers at our satellite office never got to look at the contract with us participating in the vote over Zoom and the drivers at the Teamsters office in Tukwila see everything and they vote all in favor of a $5.00 increase, then they tell us we will be getting in our satellite location a 50 cent increase.
We didn't even get to vote as the link they sent to us arrived two hours AFTER the meeting, and was time sensitive so after 10 minutes, the link disappeared. And the union rep tried to play me and my three coworkers for idiots saying “oh sorry bout that, we had some technical issues”. To say our blood was boiling was an understatement. Anyway, my one coworker is supposed to be on vacation this week…he told me today he ain't coming back. Me, I am leaving at the end of the month, and my other two coworkers are both retiring early as they can't handle the excess workload at their age. My boss came up and told me “You're the future of the company for this location, we need you” while I was unloading my truck. And then I made sure while I was up on the tailgate and he was down on the dock and he had to look up at me, I responded back “My union steward whose my Seattle COWORKER, my union representative, YOU, The CEO, the entire management team CHOSE to stab me and my coworkers in the Goddamn back. You see the knife still impaled in me? Yeah, it feels so awesome in this year of 2022, the year of high inflation where my company which is making 80% more net profit this year vs last year tells me that I am a piece of trash who deserves a 10 cent raise a year for five years (no raise my first two years and 50 cents for the next three). And you think I'm going to continue to tolerate this bullshit? You have no idea of what me and the guys have said about you all, because if you did it would send chills down your spine. So let me be clear, you are nothing more to me than human garbage and I don't give a flying fuck what you say to me as I don't trust you, I don't believe in anything you say, and you and everyone in Seattle are dead to us. Now get off of my dock and go back to Seattle because your not wanted here.”.
Shockingly he still hasn't fired me for telling him that (not that they have anyone to fill in for us). But at least I'm smart and using up my medical, dental, and vision benefits before I bolt….about $7800 I don't have to fork out of pocket.
