What the actual fuck. I work in construction, I am an estimator so I do the bidding, contracts, and all of the paperwork to set up the job in our system. So over a year ago we got the contract on a nice sized project (~2 million) and I had to turn in what we call a Schedule of Values, basically a detailed breakdown of the contract price among all of the components of that contract. At that time material costs were low and the general contractor wanted to pay material bills, so I went over it with my “boss” and printed out a sheet to show him the numbers, he approved it and I sent it to the general contractor. It ranged out to about 21% materials and 79% labor.
Well as of the last year the materials prices have skyrocketed and as such, we are spending a lot more than we had planned. He had a meeting today with the general contractor so he asked me to send him the details on what we'd paid out vs what we had been paid for materials. At this point he noticed that it was only 21% materials. Typically we were closer to 35%, and here recently we'd been doing a flat 50%. He called me at 8:30 this morning, literally screaming at me about this, and said he is choosing to take this personally because its so low, we never went over it, he never saw the numbers, and it's up to me to fix it or I'm fired. I scanned the copies of the sheets where we went over it, that has his handwriting on it, and emailed them to him to show him we DID go over it, and he DID approve it.
Now, he's passing all of his messages through my assistant and absolutely refuses to talk to me. He wont take my phone calls, wont answer my texts. This is just childish. I'm beginning to wonder if he'll just let me go at this point.
