I’m an executive assistant and every week I take notes at the leadership meeting for our dept. My boss is the VP, 5 other Directors in the meeting.
One director has been STRUGGLING to fill her open position. Today she updates that the recent candidate is “decent” and she was thinking about moving him forward. My boss scoffed and said “I want someone better than “decent”!” The director pushed back and said the decent candidates were asking for more money so she told the VP to either up the salary budget or he would have to deal with some on the job training and a lower skilled but again “decent” employee. VP didn’t have much to say to that. I was proud of the director for standing up for herself and telling it like it is!
