A display in my office broke and I asked one of the bosses if I could repair it since it'll save the company money. He said sure and let me use the company card to buy repair supplies. I fixed the display, but had extra material which I could use to repair the other aging displays which he also said was fine.
I also have another boss to whom I report directly who has been out on medical leave. He hasn't been in lately, but his wife works for us part time. She told him that I had fixed something in the store and he called me in a rage angry that I hadn't asked him. I explained that my other boss had said it was ok. He still wasn't happy and told me to return the extra materials and not to fix anything else.
That's fine, I said, I'll return them, but I have to wait for someone with a larger vehicle because mine is in the shop. Fast forward the next day, his wife calls me before I even normally wake up and tells me not to come in because the material is still there. I reminded her that we're waiting for a pickup truck and obviously I have too much work to do not to come in. After a grueling 10 hour day of work, I went home knowing she knew that we were still waiting for the truck.
Thursday I arrive at work and my time card is missing. She had disposed of it so I couldn't clock in, even though I had a full slate of clients that day. To top it off, she left before I got there so I couldn't even complain to her about it. Also, we don't have an HR department.
