I’m not entirely sure how to start so I apologize for any formatting concerns.
My company that I work for has a generally high turnover rate as it’s sales and the quotas are tough. I am not in sales, but in marketing so I thought I had general job security as I have worked there 6 months and have already established good rapport and have proven myself effective by landing several big projects already.
Today, I found out that right before we left for the day 15 people were fired. This includes 2 people from my department and the rest from sales. This was shocking as the 2 in my department were there for over 2 years and 10 respectively. The majority of the people let go were over 50.
I am concerned that I no longer have job security and am unsure of what next steps I should take. It is a well established company in our community. Should I be looking for other employment opportunities? I don’t want my resume to look like I cannot hold a job as I am only there for 6 months.
