My company has 2 owners. One moved to FL during Covid and the other rented office space 5 minutes from his house on Long Island. They just said they want us to to come into NYC 2 days a week but they're not coming in of course. What disheartening is I'm not seeing the rest of the company pushing back, just snickering behind the owner's backs. I keep talking about it and I'm getting people rolling their eyes like I'm whining, but seriously fuck them.
If I go into the office, once I add up all the expenses of getting a dog walker, parking my car in a garage (since I can't move it midday for the street cleaning schedule), commuting, and lunch, it will cost $65 / day. This totals anywhere from $520-$650 a month. What's most frustrating is that I don't “collaborate” with anyone in this NYC office. I only work with the owners and my junior guy is in Thailand. So I'm spending a life changing amount of money each month to do something that adds absolutely zero value to me being able to do my job.
