I'm so angry and disgusted right now. I have nowhere else to rant about this since no one else knows and my dad is embarrassed.
My father (58) has worked for a beer distributor Warehouse since I was 5. Worked his ass off for 10 years and became the Warehouse manager when I was 15. He has been doing that job ever since last Monday when he was unceremoniously and totally out of the blue demoted back to warehouse worker.
He has:
worked far beyond the hours he was paid for via salary
been the person who answers the work calls at midnight because no one else picks up
has gotten two hernias from the physical exertion as he constantly had to play the role of manager and often fill in for warehouse workers who don't show up
been under-paid for years and never asked for a raise
worked in office/warehouse through the entire pandemic while most of the management team/higher ups got to work from home
They:
did not have any meetings about his performance prior to this. He admitted to me he has been so incredibly burnt out the last couple months and knows his work probably has gone down, but that he was hoping they would at least talk about it
were showing another guy certain jobs that they led my dad to believe was to help ease his load, and instead were actually training him to take over my dad's job
cut his pay (obviously) while just a few years away from retirement.
This coming from a supposed “family” business. All these fuckgoblins care about is that bottom line, screw someone who has given almost half his life to this company. Then they wonder why their turnover is high.
