I just found out that my dad, who’s worked for his company for over 40 years, hasn’t received a raise in nearly 10. It’s a successful company that has more than one branch and he manages one of the departments.
In addition to hiring, terminating, employee disciplinary, etc, he also handles the clientele and their orders within that department. So while managing the employees, he’s on the phone all day long with their customers and coordinating their orders.
Not only does he work well past five o’clock every day, he also works a 1-2 Saturdays per month.
He told me since the last time he received a raise, he’s gotten his employees frequent raises and they’re now making 20% more. He’s thinking of asking for a 25-30% raise.
What do y’all think is sufficient?? I think in addition to a fat raise, a profit-sharing plan needs to be on the table considering the amount of time and his life he’s dedicated to them over the last forty years. But I know nothing about that so any insight would be super appreciated!
