let CompanyX = a top tech company (guess which one)
let DeveloperX = you
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out, but I don't want to work for CompanyX at this time.
Why? CompanyX is known to have some of the most rigorous interviews in the industry, and I honestly don't have time to study for weeks about obscure data structures and algorithms (that aren't used on the job) to get through 5 interviews, and possibly fail on the last one.
There are flaws in the screening process, and I can't make the time commitment to going back to college just to pass all the rounds of interviews. I love programming and software development, and am constantly learning on the job and in my free time when I can. I'm sure that I'm qualified to do the job, but am unsure that I'm qualified to pass the interviews at this time.
If I am incorrect about all of this, I wish that CompanyX could find a way to improve developer morale. With a seeming shortage of software developers in the industry at large as it is now, it seems that CompanyX could benefit from a welcoming, inclusive image, rather than what is commonly seen as elitism.
Thanks again for your time and interest,
DeveloperX
