My ex-manager got fired!

I used to work at a small store, and the manager I reported to was a manipulative, emotionally abusive ass hole. I didn’t realize at first how many people disliked them and it took me way too long to realize they were horrible. In celebration of them getting let go here’s just a few things they did in my short time working together: let’s call this person “Steve” Tried guilting me into changing my plans for a family vacation because Steve wanted to take off at the same time. I used to work at a small store, and the manager I reported to was a manipulative, emotionally abusive ass hole. I didn’t realize at first how many people disliked them and it took me way too long to realize they were horrible. In celebration of them getting let go here’s just a few things they did in my short time working together: let’s call this person “Steve”

  • Tried guilting me into changing my plans for a family vacation because Steve wanted to take off at the same time. My request had been in for 3 months.

  • Once told me that a customer was so fat that they made me look skinny

  • Was always completely uninterested in anything I had to say when it came to my interests, such as music, tv, etc. but would get mad when me or other people didn’t care to hear them talk about their interests. Sad too because me and Steve actually shared a lot of interests and I’d try and talk about these things to make convo with them.

  • Acted extremely snobby about literally everything. You could say “i really like this bagel shop. They always have a line, but it’s worth it” only for Steve to say something like “they’re ok, i guess” simply because someone else found something they enjoyed. Ik this sounds more minor, but it’s very tiring to always have someone putting you down just bc you get excited about something. When I left the job for a higher paying job with benefits and it wasn’t retail, they replied with “that isn’t even a lot of money” LIKE OK BRO you have no room to talk, you also work here and only get paid like $3 more than me/hour. My new position pays me 2.5 the amount I was making before.

  • My coworker (woman) told Steve they felt like they didn’t have a voice at work because the majority of people were men. Steve told my coworker that their feelings were invalid because they’re white. (Steve is mexican and trans, so i guess that means they are the only ones who can feel this way)

  • I called out once and Steve didn’t tell the GM about it. Then they told me how grateful I should be that they “covered for me”. ok dude you’re a manager and also idc if the GM finds out I called out.

  • Would constantly lose their temper and curse at me and others anytime they got stressed. So all day every day.

  • The icing on the cake was when Steve once asked me to hang out and we did. They were a bit too comfortable and were acting in ways beyond a manager/employee relationship. Then the next day they texted me saying how innapropiate it was for me to “come onto them” and how we should keep our relationship professional, how I need to lower my expectations bc they don’t like me like that. Like dude, i was just hanging out, getting sushi, at YOUR invitation.

Fuck bad bosses!! Thankfully, I have moved on from that job!! All their contact info and social media is blocked as well!
