My First job

Tl;de: first job Full of red flags. Thank god I left. I just got out from tech School and got hired by a small tech Company wich did the Sales software for a big Company and also selled for other business. Got hired for the owner of big Company himself (partner in this small Company) to do tech support and training. FIRST RED FLAG: the advertised salary was 20% over minimum wage. My manager said I barely finished tech School so my salary would grew later. It was a small Company the other partner was a shy developer, there was me and two other tech supports, one recently hired with me.

Everyone liked me over the First month, the “bug for fixing” exploded from 13 to over 150. I was trying to break the system on my “low” time and found so many bugs they had to create a new priority system. The partner dev was shy but he came to me and told me How he was happy with I was doing and they found a huge client was using one of the bugs I found for not paying his Full license (Just one month of that was enough for a whole year of mine salary).

After the First “experience” month we began doing training for New clients. The other New Guy was explosive and would Lost his shit with dumb clients, I was loving, I was Very patient back then so I was getting great reviews from my clients.

SECOND RED FLAG: the manager was a mid fourties woman with zero tech background. Gossips were she was Big Boss mistress on his other Company and his wife found out so he hid her there. She did NOTHING the whole day other then gossip, Paint her nails or piss off the Sales or tech crew…and we Saw her paycheck on her desk, 4x our salaries. The other New Guy was Very handsome (and I'm NOT!) so the clients he exploded were sent to me.

The clients hinted New clients to ask for me in training and In no time I was OVERWORKED, travelling a lot for New clients, and feeling completely exhausted and she was complaining my help tickets were expiring…OF COURSE THEY ARE, IM DOING 2/3 TRAININGS EVERY DAY. The site we used assigned equally the tickets for us. The manager could reassign them, but she said If “Just manage my time better I would pick the other guys pace” wich translated as “I wont do even the slightest shit for you”

I was Young and fool so I worked on my tickets while travelling/ on my free time. And managed to lower my expiring rate to outmatch the other guys.

The other kept being a Dick for clients even with a huge New client who threaten to rip the contract and find another software. I was sent there and did the training, she was a bitch, but I made her laugh and her manager liked me.

THIRD RED FLAG: Did I got a “Well done”? No! My manager began investigating why my clients liked me so much, I was probably teaching them How to use more for the lowest license (the huge bug I found and became a joke between the programmers). She insisted in going with me in various visits, she Just didn't believe I was good!

LAST RED FLAG: I got an offer for making 2x my salary in another industry. I told about It to the dev Boss and he was sorry to lose me, he even told me he would speak to the big Boss for creating a “training manager” with bigger pay for me not to leave. He called the big Boss and Big Boss called saying to come tô his other Company next morning, he would have an offer to me to stay.

I told the other supports and Sales guys and they were happy for me either me going or staying, but my manager heard and called me on her office. She asked How much I was offered and I dennied her. She then left and went to other Boss Company.

Next morning I went there and he was cold and offered me you can be Just doing training (no more support tickets), but we can't offer a raise. I was incredulous, that bitch stabbed me the last time.

“Sorry, but the other offer is Just too good to refuse” and Thank god I left. New Boss was super friendly and comprehensive, I made more money, he even offered me a percentage of the services price without me asking after I found a way to buy tubing really cheaper.

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to share my Young days shit story.
