My first job & I think I’m getting scammed

I hope this is the right place to get advice. Basically I just started working at Subway a little over a week ago. I applied online and was called later and asked to go into the store for a “meeting.” When I got there, the owner that I talked to over the phone wasn’t there and instead just called me again. He said I could start training that night and so I essentially started making subs right away (about an hour and a half) and then took off for the night. Flash forward another 5 hours of training the next day and then over a week of work, and I’ve counted about 43 hours—both clocked in and with training. I’m also a full time college student so it’s really taken over my life—they just call me in whenever and still haven’t given me a shift schedule. Just this past Sunday…

Just this past Sunday (a week since I began working) I signed a W-4. Tonight (Tuesday) I got a call, telling me I could get paid tomorrow but it’d only be for 3-6hours and likely wouldn’t be worth it. I was so stunned all I could say was thanks and that it’d be alright. Now I’m concerned I really fucked up and I’m 43 hours in the hole. I really don’t know what to do and I don’t know what my protections are if the only proof of working I have is on the store’s security cameras. I was never even given papers describing my wage, I just assumed minimum and that other Subway’s paid for training. I’m very aware this all sounds super stupid but god it’s so hard to bring up pay to higher ups and no one I texted/called was responding. The times I tried bringing up forms I was shut down. Anyway, any help/advice is appreciated.
