I left my job early in the year. In fact, I had a high ranking position and said I was quitting and then they fired me. Woohoo! This is a small business run by a horrible tyrant. I saw the owner burn out employee after employee and they laid off my entire staff in Washington state once I was gone. I got so tired of sending new bodies through the wood chipper and had to get myself out in order to address my physical and mental health.
As I've been moving on with my life, I found I needed some YTD income information. I've found out that they never reported my final paycheck which included a huge PTO payout. All in all, 10k in wages and 2.6k in taxes.
What can I do with this information? My biggest concern is losing out on the 1.8k in federal taxes but I also realized they never sent along my 401k deductions as well. They were meager but still….
What can I do (or in what order) to report this to the IRS, L&I, etc. Should I engage with an employment lawyer first? Thanks!
