I think she's got a point.
I think certain people are great as managers and they have a personality that makes them suitable for that role. they love supporting people and are good at it. they may be natural leaders and/or teamworkers and have both the company's and their team's best interest at heart.
but there are so many people who go into management purely because they want a payrise and going into management is the only way up, resulting in people being in charge of others' work life who have no empathy or care about supporting or helping others. they go into management for selfish reasons (money, career) rather than because they genuinely want to lead and support people in the best way, and it really shows in a lot of cases.
not to say that those people suck in general – they are just not well suited or experienced to manage a team, of they're being forced into the role for the wrong reasons.
