Everyone thinks working for a senator is some prestigious position. It’s not, there’s one person who helps the senator on legislation and everyone else acts as a glorified secretary. The pay was 40k starting and she thought she was lucky to have this job.
Until they started timing her bathroom breaks, told her to just wait for a new email when she got her work done early instead of doing something else, won’t let her listen to music, or even study a different subject to boost herself.
She dreads going to the office and these managers are millennials (not boomers) who have a mindset that she should be lucky to have the job.
Well? She used during Monday and Friday while she works from home and got a permanently remote job as an entry level policy analyst.
Fuck working for a job just for the sake of prestige. Money and work-life balance matters, we have one life and there’s no reason we should live it dreading work.
