When I had been there for about a year they decided that it was easier to start a new group chat than to kick the ex staff member off of it as they never commented, just showed up as seeing whatever was posted. It took them 6 days to start a new one without me.
I sent something to the owner (we have similar tastes in artwork) and got a “like” but nothing else.
I continue to like and share their posts because they're a small business that needs promoting and I'm not a dick.
But 4 weeks since I left, and only one person will talk to me. Like if you don't like me, why are you still following me on Facebook and Instagram? And I know one of them is only like that because if they act like they're friends with me it'll cause issues for them at the business. We got along just fine prior to this.
Anyway this is just a point to say, if you're ever worried that leaving your job will affect the other workers in a negative way or that you're breaking up a “family”, this is a really good reminder that outside of work most of them don't give a fuck about you.
I have a lot of respect for the owner, but I wish now that I had never taken up a job with them as much as I really enjoyed it. I feel like I can't even go back in there in the future.
