Long story short and details brief until this all gets settled, my company is trying to put me in a different position that would be half my original positions pay after I returned from medical leave. Highly in violation of the Family medical leave act and my states version as well.
So I contacted an attorney, verified they are in the wrong and after contacting my work again to see if they will change their mind (they didn’t) my attorney is going to send them a letter as a notice that they are in violation of the statute and that they have 10 days to resolve the matter privately or the matter will be taken to court.
I seriously felt all warm and fuzzy inside reading the draft of the letter before he was going to send it. Like opening a Christmas gift and it’s the gift you were hoping for and asking for all your childhood life.
The best part is, I haven’t had to pay this lawyer anything yet and if it does go to court, my work would be paying my legal fees. So if you think your work is mistreating you and breaking the law, call them out on it and get a lawyer.
A lot of places are under the assumption we either don’t know the laws or that we think lawyers are too expensive for us.
