I’ve been working for a big tech company as a software engineer for the past year. Most of the stuff I work on however is more on the networking side and so it hasn’t really been all that interesting to me. Regardless, I used to work really hard to understand things and help the team out. For the past few months I’ve been assigned to a specific manager who thinks he’s a big shot cuz he’s been working at the company for like 15+ years. Dude constantly talks about how i don’t know certain things and when I ask questions he doesn’t really answer them and says “it shouldn’t be this complex it’s simple don’t know why you’re not getting it”. When I’ve been stuck on stuff he’s even gone so far to say “do you even troubleshoot like did you even Google this?” And when I said “yes” he said “it’s really simple actually” and proceeded to Google in front of me and still he wasn’t able to find a solution. Today, he asked me for updates on an issue I’ve told him about for the past month. I had to open a case with IT on it. I told him I don’t really have much updates cuz the IT guy isn’t really doing much of anything and I’m waiting on his side. He started putting me down in front of my other coworkers in the meeting saying “I don’t even think you know how to troubleshoot you haven’t been doing anything it’s not this complex. Not sure what you’re doing”. Because of his bullshit behavior, I started interviewing other places and I do have a verbal offer for another company and rn am waiting on the written offer. After today’s shit, I’m wondering if I should give my two week notice once I sign the initial offer or should wait until my background check clears. I’m just tired of his shit and mentally exhausted.
