A little bit of a rant, sorry if this doesn’t really make any sense I’m upset
Im 16 and this is my first job. Honestly I only started this job because my mom wanted me to work there and I needed money. It’s a small local specialty food place btw.
I’ve only been working there for like 6-7 months and in those months:
– 6 employees quit
– 2 got fired
– I tried to quit once but got guilted into staying one day
Plus the customers are so rude (elderly customers and entitlement don’t mix), and if I need something refilled or if I need to see if we have more of something I can never find any of the people who are supposed to do that (I can’t do it myself because cashiers aren’t taught where everything is in storage)
I tried to quit and had my coworkers, and bosses pressuring me to give a reason. Like, I wasn’t gonna say straight to their face the reason I’m quitting is because none of them know how to work or manage employees and the pay is trash.(8$/hr) Was asked if I could stay on one day (a 9hr day btw) and I said sure. Tried to confirm my last week two weeks ago and was met with a confused look on my managers face because she thought when she said I would only work the one day that meant I was staying on all my days🤨
(Also 3 of the people who quit did it in the past week and were also day shift workers so they are scrambling looking for people to replace them and me, I’m part time)
Anyway, today I reached out to my manager and told her I couldn’t do the one day I had (I didn’t give her a reason in my first text, didn’t think it was really necessary because I’m literally the only person who gave her a notice that I was quitting everyone else just texted/called and didn’t come back in, give me some slack) she responded by saying it was very unprofessional of me to be quitting. I texted her back a couple hours later and told her I was sorry but I have a lot going on rn (like looking for a better paying job with a better manager)
Right now I put my phone on DND and I’m just waiting until tomorrow to read whatever she texts me because I literally can’t deal with her
