My manager rolled back my clock out time, and now I’m trying to take this higher up.

There's a spoken policy in the place where I work that my previous managers and current managers enforce, that after clocking out, you're meant to take out garbage with you on your way out “since it's on the way anyway”. I knew this was off the clock work, and in most instances unpaid overtime, so instead I would gather my things first (put on my jacket, grab my work bag), then take out the garbage, then punch out. I told them that was a violation of my labor rights and wage theft, which is illegal, and I would be filing complaints with the US Department of Labor. They then told me I could email HR and teams in the office and set up a meeting if I wanted to discuss it, at which point I said I would email them.

This all happened this morning and now I'm typing out a lengthy email, documenting the changes in my work times, the illegal garbage policy at my workplace, and stating that I'm going to be filing complaints.

My anxiety is still on high since I'm not a very confrontative person, and any advice would be appreciated. In Wisconsin btw, in an unsuccessfully unionized work place.
