This story starts at Jan 6th. I was laid off from my social care job due to lies about me and my work ethic. I had a surgery planned for 4 months later, which meant that I had very little time to find a job that will have to keep me employed, due to the laws in my country that enable employers to lay off anyone for any reason in the first 3 months after hire.
I had not found any, and by June, I lived up all my already small savings.
Then I found my current job. Industrial, machine operator. Great. I was reluctant to accept, but I was and still is in desperate need of money. So here I am. Having to get up at 5 am every day, and not being able to sleep more than 5 hours due to the stress.
And oh, the stress. It all started out with being guaranteed 30 minutes of paid lunch.
I said great, I would take 2×15 minutes, so my colleagues won't have to do my job for half an hour. It was fine for two weeks, then I was told I could only take one lunch break. It was fine for a few days. Then I was told I could only take 20 minutes to eat, not 30. So I did. Now I'm told I CANNOT REST, if I finish eating in 10 minutes I can't just sit at the table or collect my thoughts, I have to go back to work.
At this point I am severely exhausted. I already got my hand pinched inside the machinery due to exhaustion symptoms. I would stand and close my eyes for a second, unintentionally fall asleep, then the next moment I would wake up because I started to fall off my feet.
So I told my sympthoms to my doctor, who was kind enough to write me off for sick leave. I am very incredibly grateful for that.
I am on the lookout for a new job. I applied to a place where I can potentially earn almost 4x as much as here. Other than that, I had decided to send at least 2 applications every day, ideally 5.
I need to get my health together, I have until next Wednesday, after that I will have to go back to work.
Wish me luck. I feel like a used sponge.
