Backstory: My grandmother was diagnosed with cancer a year ago. She got therapy and maybe 3 months ago, she seemed fine again. My grandmother lives 450km away from us, so it was difficult to visit her. We were able to visit her only once in a few years, luckily we were able to visit her during christmas 2021. This was the first and last cristmas after 6 years.
A month ago, her condition got worse and worse and they discovered an untreatable brain tumor. My mother ofcourse was very stressed and worried, was busy with work, worried about her mother, she had a small surgery herself and her company made a huge scene, because she had to stay home for 3 days. But now, a week ago, she got a call, that her mother was about to die and it was urgent for her to come, if she wanted to say goodbye to her.
She pretty much begged her company for vacation or unpaid time off, she worked more hourse than usual last week, so she could get the time off. My mother finally, after a long time discussing and arguing, got a 1 week vacation, that started on the 27th. My grandmother passed away in the night of the 26th to the 27th. Understandable, my mother is disappointed and sad, that she couldn't see her for the last time, because her company refused to give her vacation.
My mother works in a supermarket. And yes, they are understaffed, but they have not granted my mother the vacation they agreed on and made her change her vacation 3 times. All with the argument “woops, we forgot, next week you'll be able to get vacation”. And that 3 times in a row.
My mother is someone, who works for minimum wage and does way too much work and she shows way too much committment towards her job. Her company does not want her to miss work for the first year she is working there. But since she has undergone a small surgery, the company now always tries to find more and more excuses to punish her or to break agreements and contracts.
I told my mother, that she shouldn't do anything else than clock in, work, clock out. Her company gave a fuck about agreements and contracts, did nothing but causing trouble and made her work more and more and more for nothing. I told her: don't you do anything more than for what you have signed up. They didn't care about you, so don't care about them. And if they fire you, then they'd be even more understaffed.
Fuck you K+K, fuck your management and fuck your gross negligent ignorance.
I just wanted to get this off my chest, please exuse the nonsense i wrote and the typos and what not.
