My mom works as a HR Training director. She has to get forklift certified in case plant workers go on strike this summer.

My mom works for a huge manufacturing chain in the United States. She is 62, finishing up her last few months until retirement. Her job is to create training programs and certifications for the employees at her plant. She works with local colleges, forepersons, and such to develop pathways for employees to advance their training. Anyways, she just received an email that she now has to become forklift certified in order to maintain her position. Corporate is bracing for a summer of strikes and instead of negotiating, they are assigning salaried workers to tasks that would cover down on operations. Can’t wait to see my 4’11” 62 year old mom tearing through a loading yard on a forklift.
