After the interview I had today, HR sent me an email. It had 22 links I had to electronically sign, regarding policy, w-4, job description etc.
I said, “isn't this something I should do on the clock?”
She said, no, I needed to do it at home, and it's only like, 10 mins worth of work.
Uhm. Ok.
Turns out it took nearly 40 minutes, and that was
without completely reading every word on every page.
I have people (family) saying, oh that's just something some employers do.
I've had a few different jobs in my life, and not once did I ever do these things at home.
TL;DR is this legal???
More info and life story below:
This interview didn't go as I hoped. The starting pay for what I applied for was $12.50. They didn't list that in the ad.
I said, Indeed listed the median pay for this position at $15.33, and that's very disappointing for a $2.9 billion dollar company. I cant work a night shift for that pay.
So we switch my application to an assistant manager position night shift. $14.50 with .50 overnight premium.
I had asked for $18 starting, considering inflation, COL, gas prices, I had a decent argument laid out.
I'm not a skilled worker, no higher education.
I moved from my home state to experience more, but I feel like I'm selling my soul. I've spent a decent amount of time fighting against conformity, and I now have to face where that has gotten me in life. All I want is to save enough money to forsake society.
