Avoid working here at all cost!!! My partner is an RBT at LEARN Behavioral Total Spectrum. They work with children who are on the autism spectrum. Over the past 2 years, they have taken away almost every worthwhile benefit of the job. My partner started out as a salaried employee with 18 days of PTO, and tuition reimbursement for continued education, but as soon as the pandemic hit, they began stripping away all of this.
When the pandemic started, they almost immediately switched over RBTs to hourly so that the meager salary they already were getting was gutted even more. With cancellations of sessions with clients being a common occurrence even before the pandemic, my partner's income dropped drastically. The company's response to this was for RBTs to just pick up more sessions with completely different clients. This almost never results in productive therapy sessions due to the drastic change to the client's environment. They expect the same routine and when that balance is disrupted, it causes extreme stress for both the client and the therapist.
As for the PTO, they changed it so that they have to “earn” it instead of it being available to take when needed, whether that be for a mental health day from the extreme stress of the work, being sick (which should be separate of PTO), if you wanted to actually go on vacation, or have a family emergency. When my partner was hired, all of their PTO was guaranteed and i was actually impressed with how much time they got. However, now the fact is that LEARN is basically holding their PTO hostage and this is absolutely disgusting and they should be ashamed of their policy. This job has put more stress on my partner than anything I have ever seen before and they are doing this to all of their RBTs…
My partner also took advantage of the tuition reimbursement program which they said could cover 1/3 of the cost of continuing education in a related field, in this case, the graduate program to become a licensed BCBA (basically a manager of the RBTs who also tailors the therapy plans to each client). However, they failed to mention to my partner what the maximum amount they would reimburse actually was. After completing their 2 year program (roughly $30,000), LEARN said they would only cover $3000 of that cost when we were expecting them to cover an actual third of the tuition since they would be benefitting from the education my partner work their ass off to complete, never falling below a 3.5 GPA.
This company is the epitome of corporate greed. Preying on customers and employees alike. They know that the customers they provide these services to have very few options in the way of therapy for their children and also that the people who want to work with said clients do it because they want to help.
Knowing this while still taking every possible benefit away from their employees when they need them the most, causing high turnover which then puts stress on the clients they say they care about is just evil. If you or a loved one is looking for therapy options for a child on the spectrum, stay as far away from this company as possible. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING OTHER THAN PROFITS!!!
