You know how when you check out at the store (or fast food, etc), typically the receipt has a survey link as well as a survey code? Well, I’ve found myself filling out the survey at almost every single place that I spend money at now. In almost all of these surveys there is an option for “additional comments.”
Now as a retail worker, I KNOW that the managers at least read these comments, and typically their higher ups will read them as well. My additional comment is typically something along the lines of the following, for the management:
“These employees deserve living wages, a minimum of $27 an hour. Anything less would be criminal.”
Now, the real kicker is that you can choose how far up the totem pole you’d like to send this message. Rating the place of business the highest possible is a key way to reach that store’s manager. However, higher up than that does not care about good reviews. They don’t care how well the employees are doing, they look strictly for reasons to avoid giving out raises, and for reasons to say “no.” Therefore, I tend to leave an absolutely glimmering review of the employees, with all minimally rated everything else.
So far I haven’t seen any real change come of it, but it definitely feels like if this were a movement, and something that started trending it could really make an impact.
What are your thoughts? I’m open to criticisms and am always willing to discuss alternatives.
