My therapist is struggling to afford groceries.

During today's session, my therapist admitted he was relieved I was finally able to push paperwork through that allowed my insurance to actually pay him since it would allow him to afford groceries and such. I asked him for a bit more info, and he didn't want to disclose too much private information about himself (understandable), but the jist of it was despite this dude being in his 60s and having worked in the field his entire life, having a degree in psychology etc, he was STILL struggling. He's a specialist in PTSD and works with veterans and childhood trauma. How the fuck has America failed us this badly that people like this are struggling financially? I guess the most depressing part is I wasn't even that shocked to find out someone like this was struggling.
