I work as a water technician for a small company and do usually and install a day. First let’s start off that I was lied too in my interview(shocker) about a whole bunch of things and told “we are all family here” so fast forward to a month ago I’m going on an install for some training with a guy who said he wasn’t feeling the best and it was flu season so he thought it was bronchitis he says he gets it a lot.
All though i didn’t know at the time my the owner/boss knew he was sicker than that and he had been getting covid test and didn’t tell anyone of us since they are buddies. Two days later bam! I get covid and pretty bad and my other boss got it too from him. Both of us were out for a month I though i was going to die. While I didn’t get paid the whole month my boss did. I had to take all my savings out and even get another credit card.
I came back from covid not knowing they knew all along. Than they wanted to ease me into working again because I was very fatigued easy. Same day the make me do an install by myself and it was 12 hours.
The next day I had another install and was waiting for the guy who gave me covid to come and help later in the day. I didn’t do shit I left everything out and just sat around getting paid when the guy called and said he was on his way I told the customer I was leaving to get some parts from the shop. Got there texted my boss I’m quitting and the install was being done soon and got into my car and left.
Small companies are just as bad as big corporations when it comes to treating there workers.
