I want to fist say that this sub opened my eyes a few month ago, but this week it has changed my view and stance forever.
My wife makes 14 an hr in Texas. She makes just less than the manager. There is no insurance, no 401k, no others benefit besides the “pleasure” of working for nearly double minimum wage. The schedule is done daily for the next day? And worse it is texted out between 4 and 8 pm? Is this normal? I have been salary since I was 18, and have consistently known my hours. We are lucky enough due to my past job(I’m retired) To have health insurance and steady money. But 14X40 is 560 a week, 2240 a month before taxes. We have 3 children and am lucky enough to always have a parent to stay home, but how do y’all do it? I know in my situation we are blessed.
How do people survive on minimum wage? And no heath insurance? My wife keeps telling me this is what real life is, but how have we not had a revolution. I keep looking at a way to start my own business, but it seems that you need to have money to make money. And all I have right now is just enough money and plenty of time. Keep your head up everyone.
