This isn't very /r/antiwork but I wanted to get it off my chest because it's really getting to me.
My wife and I are pregnant for the first time and she has been suffering pretty bad morning sickness. On account of this we decided she should tell her boss that she was pregnant and that she may have to adjust her hours from time to time to suit the pregnancy. To the boss' credit, they've been happy with this arrangement and made plenty of accommodations for my wife to go to the various early stage appointments we've had to attend together.
The problem is her boss continuously comments on the pregnancy, making conversation about boss' kids and all the things my wife has to look forward to while other people are in the room. My wife has tried to tune this kind of thing out and not make a scene, but several days ago the boss started talking about parental leave and the arrangements they'll have to make directly in front of another employee.
We were not intending on telling anyone about our pregnancy until after the first trimester as we have no idea how this will go and, on the chance something does go wrong in the pregnancy, wanted to process the fallout from that on our own before involving friends and family. Now we have had to move forward this process quickly so we can make sure we tell the people we feel need to know before they find out through the rumor mill, and if something does go wrong we'll just have to deal with it in some way, shape or form. Her workplace is full of gossip at the best of times and now there's at least two loose ends that we really, really didn't need right now.
