In short: my raise was significantly below inflation, as it has been for a few years. To add insult to injury, I see my company is making some hefty stock buybacks, so obviously they would just rather pay shareholders than actual laborers. I reached out to HR to discuss the issue. I took a screenshot of the conversation, but I am hesitant to post it while I still work at this job. Maybe I'll post it later. Anyway, I laid out the facts, and I was basically told a) the company doesn't tie raises to inflation, b) you got more than other employees [so be grateful], and c) I can pass along your feedback if you'd like. I replied that while it may be true, it doesn't change the fact that the buying power of my compensation has decreased, so I am now doing more work for less pay. I asked for the next person to contact to escalate my issue, and got told they'd look into it. We'll see where it goes from here… But I already know it'll go nowhere. Time to brush up the old resume…
