Backdrop. Long….sorry!
I work Full time Salaried for Company “A” as The Maintenance Lead. My commute is 35 minutes in the morning and 25 coming home unless an accident then double it. This Company A is owned by two millionaires which are husband and wife oops I mean husband and Gold digger (she's 20 years younger than him) lol Anyhow this building they own and I work at is a lemon. Not just a lemon but a rotten come to the work and building is in rubble's bad. The owners are bi polar. Most days very nice and offering me a bonus. But also most days very cold and condescending. We've been through 3 property managers in the past 4 months. So its like groundhog day every month. The new company that just started said “you'll be a great asset to the team” newsflash beotch I've been the only mofo team for 3 years, I've been here when it's been hell way before, not you. Team hahaha f him. You aholes just got here and for how long lol. Anyways the building is a nightmare completely in disarray as the owners never inspected it before buying it. 20 complaints a day from the HVAC system. Not to mention the slew of other issues. It's got so bad I just go up lie to the tenants about fixing it and leave. There not gonna spend the money to fix it so why should I care. Same with anything else. Tells me to treat certain tenants better than others. Bs I treat everyone the same. I don't work in leasing so I don't know who's ass to kiss per day. The only things I do enjoy here are not doing shit from 7-9 am before the prop manager get here and alot of times I leave 30 minutes early without any problem. Also no mask requirement.
So I've been applying for jobs to see what's available. Got a hit, interviewed and got an offer. It's for a big azz company named TE Connectivity. I'll have 2 bosses over me, have to wear a mask, and probably can't smoke cigarettes at work anymore lol I know judge me I know I need to quit.
The pay is 11cents more an hour but its not salary. It's hourly pay. The other plusses would be room for advancement (can't here at company A cuz I'm the top of the totem already) and easy commute of only 8 minutes each way instead of 35/25. The benefits are new company are amazing. Currently I get absolutely no benefits here except for phone allowance and gas allowance (like 80$ a month) and 10 days PTO. The prospective company has paid child leave, bonuses also, health insurance, 401k etc blah blah. I won't have an office to hide in like I do now and have no idea what I'd be doing when I get there all day.
Which would you choose and why?
I think typing this I answered my own question. More freedom here vs possible growth at a Corporate environment . Hmmm.
Summed up:
Company A : 10days PTO, more freedom, asshole owners, long commute, terrible working conditions. No benefits.
Company B : 16 days PTO, massive extensive benefit package, short commute, no office to hide in, requires drug test, corporate environment.
