Hello all!
This is mostly to vent, but I just need to hear everyone's opinion
I work security. It's an easy job with many small benefits, such as being able to watch movies or sometimes play video games. This sounds amazing, and it mostly is as a job.
However, my site lately has been filled with bullshit.
3.) We are on 12 hour shifts, first of all. We started doing these shifts “for covid”, which they justify as less people being there overall. Despite this, we had monthly covid cases during the height of the outbreak and don't have to wear masks anymore in the building.
2.) We have to physically check in every employee by their badge number verbally for the employees to get in. So, essentially I am a human badge reader, when there is already a mechanical one installed.
3.)This one is the biggest; They entirely switch the time of my shifts on a whim.I have been scheduled to work nights, and then end up working days for over a month, which has pushed every single one of the plans I make with my partner, my friends, and my family by a month. I keep telling them, like a clown, that “next week I should be back to nights” but it never happens.
The worst part is that they will keep telling me, “We should have you back on nights next week” and then “just two more weeks”
I applied for a rival security company and should get the job with the experience I have, plus security tends to hire anyone who breathes.
This is where we get to my conundrum. I have the interview on Wednesday, but two days before that a major boss comes in to our building. It's really important and could determine if the company stays at the site.
Should I just not show up that day?
It would be the funniest way to quit, in my opinion. However, if I don't get the new job, it all falls through
