I am all for salary transparency with coworkers but am working with one person who digs for info but won’t share herself. (note: earlier this year I facilitated a convo with coworkers which led myself and a few others to ask for a raise— thank you to this thread for helping with this!)
My big picture question is:
Do you still share when others are not reciprocating in conversations around salary/benefits?
Details of situation:
Said coworker asked in a small group text thread – directed to me – whether I am getting an inflation raise after already receiving an individual/merit based raise earlier this year. (Note: apparently not everyone who already received a raise will also get an inflation raise; H.R. going on a case by case basis).
I am conflicted as to whether I should respond at all bc this person has never shared openly about their own salary.
Still, do I just get over the annoyance and respond with a short answer (“yup”) for the greater good of the group/ modeling continued transparency in salary convos?
Thoughts?

EDIT: I suppose I posted this bc on some level it does feel odd and uncomfortable to share in such a one sided way but yeah – once again this thread is awesome/ helped me to really see the bigger picture! I just responded to keep the dialogue open with all coworkers. 🤙 THANK YOU!
