New employees getting paid more than existing employees.

Started this job before increase in inflation at 35k. After a year of work I am making 40k. So basically a shield for inflation. At my one year review boss said we do not give raises past 40k. New hires are coming in with 42k-44k to battle inflation. Guess fuck all the rest of us who been going through this.
