There was a post today where people were bashing corporations for being willing to cover abortion expenses for female employees. Many commentators were lamenting about that reaction. “Wow you guys can't just be happy about anything, can you!? “. No, this is not something to be celebrated. It is not to be celebrated because IT IS CEMENTING THE BELIEF THAT CAPITAL AND THE LOGIC OF MARKETS ARE THE ONLY WAY TO SOLVE POLITICAL MATTERS
The cunts running the Democratic party have had their brains completely mushed by neoliberalism. Problems that are affecting society are no longer seen as something that the government should address, but they are left to the logic of markets. If you think about it, here are a few issues were the Democratic Party has effectively let Capital address political problems, besides now abortion
- Even though some solutions to this issue are rooted in capital, even housing is framed as a “just let the market build, baby!” rather than something for the state to address with housing for the needy
- Mental Health management is now some shit that various apps and Instagram grifters will help you deal with rather than the state providing services
- Protections for people who don't follow hetero-normative gender norms is now completely left to the market. “No company will want to move in your state if you treat the femboys wrong” should not be a serious argument, yet here we are
- Same thing for racism and racial inequality.
- Fucking climate change is “left up to the market to come up with some innovative solution!”. It is absolute madness that the first electric Ford F-150 will be the catalyst for the electrification of motor vehicles in America rather than Congressional acts. We effectively lost years of disaster mitigation because “it was not profitable yet”
This logic of letting Capital decide is exactly why YOU are here isn't it? It is this same twisted logic that has cashiers standing for hours, people being given unreliable shifts so they can't plan their future and the whole antiwork movement in general. WE CANNOT AND SHOULD NOT LET CAPITAL BE SEEN AS THE GUARANTOR OF RIGHTS
